If you ever feel stuck, stagnant or as if the past has a hold on you, you’re not alone. We all have a tendency to want to cling to things that feel familiar or offer us a sense of security. Often times, we stay in places (both emotionally and physically) that give us the feeling of comfort even when those places prove to be unhealthy for us.
How do we move on from these places? Some might say that it is all about our mental capacity to overcome obstacles that we have built in our own mind. This may be partially true. But, what if there is more to it?
What if we put into practice a habit of creating a space for ourselves where we visualize and practice flowing like water? Water is a symbol of emotion, cleansing, renewal, and release. What if we observe that everything around us changes on a daily basis? Our ever-changing view of the moon, offers us a simple reminder that we are allowed to change, too.
To work with these symbols, you don’t need an elaborate ceremony or a perfectly curated altar. Your water ritual can be as simple as a bath, a shower, a cup of tea, or a few quiet minutes with your journal. If these practices are aligned intentionally with the varying phases of the moon, the ritual is deepened.
Take some time to familiarize yourself with the moon phases and prompts listed below. Ask yourself what feels right for the space you are in right now. Pair these with some simple water routines on a regular basis and notice when the energy in you becomes more aligned with a state of flow.
New Moon — Set Your Intention
The New Moon is a beautiful time to begin again.
As you prepare, ask yourself:
What do I want to invite into my life?
What am I ready to begin?
What deserves my attention right now?
Choose a water based activity that feels connected to your intention. Sit quietly with an item that grounds you, and write your thoughts in your journal.
This is your seeding moment.
Waxing Moon — Nourish & Build
As the moon grows, use your ritual as a reminder to nurture what you’re creating.
Spend a few minutes thinking about what you can do, not just what you wish would happen.
Ask:
What small step can I take today?
Where am I seeing growth?
What deserves more of my energy?
It doesn’t have to be a giant leap. Sometimes five intentional minutes are enough.
Full Moon — Feel, Celebrate & Release
The Full Moon can be a wonderful checkpoint.
Take a bath or shower and imagine yourself washing away the emotional clutter you’ve accumulated. Reflect on what has come to light since the New Moon.
What worked?
What didn’t?
What are you proud of?
What are you ready to stop carrying?
Let the water be your reminder: you don’t have to hold everything forever.
Waning Moon — Rest & Let Go
The waning moon invites us to slow down.
This is a good time for quieter rituals activities. Choose reflection, rather than planning. Choose allowing emotions to move through your system, rather than striving for particular outcomes.
Ask yourself:
What can I release?
What no longer needs my attention?
Where am I allowed to rest?
There is no requirement to constantly grow, achieve, fix, or become.
Sometimes the ritual is simply stopping long enough to breathe.
Go With the Flow
The beauty of working with moon cycles isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about creating a rhythm that brings you back to yourself.
New Moon: Begin.
Waxing Moon: Nurture.
Full Moon: Illuminate & release.
Waning Moon: Rest & let go.
And if you miss a phase?
So what.
The moon will come around again.
So will you.
Room 108 Kits are designed to make that pause simple: give yourself a few intentional minutes to simply be.
Because healing doesn’t always require doing more.
Sometimes it begins with coming back to yourself—again and again.
